Students Make Art for their Dorm Rooms

by Madison Deslaurier

On Friday, Aug. 31 at 8 p.m. the event was held and took place in the Dezmuzio Campus Center.

Blackburn students were given the opportunity to make decorations for their dorm rooms. There were many items that students could use to decorate their rooms such as canvases, mason jars, animal sculptures, wooden letters, vases, small boxes and wooden plaques. There were also craft materials students could  put on their decorations such as pipe cleaners, sequins, buttons and glitter. A bunch of paints were set out as well for students to use.

Sophomore biology and pre vet major Destiny Haywood, who lives in Butler Hall, showed off her creativity by making many decorations. She made a house out of popsicle sticks and painted the whole thing along with a wooden letter ‘’N.’’ The popsicle sticks were painted blue and pink. She put a plaque under the ‘’N’’ using it as a cup holder. Haywood stated that she plans on burning her house creation and putting her cup holder on her desk. Haywood enjoyed the time spent expressing her creativity.

Senior marketing major Passion Jackson who lives in Stoddard Hall also showed off her creativity and created a stand with a plaque and painted a letter ‘’P.’’ The letter was painted like a cupcake with a pink background and colorful sprinkles. Jackson plans on putting her stand either on her tv stand or her desk.

The event was a big success.
