What Are You Doing With Your Summer?

by Ashley Thompson

What do you plan to do this summer? Maybe go to the beach, relax or even binge watch everything on Netflix, but the one thing you do know is that this summer will be amazing. Summer break is exactly what college students need after spending nine months worrying over papers, projects and homework assignments. While most summers you don’t plan anything and end up just sitting at home, this year, make a summer bucket list. Whether you decide to put a few things to do over the summer on the list or put enough things to do for every day, it is totally up to you: make it your own.

Some ideas to get your list started:

Take a road trip with your friends. Go anywhere and everywhere. Throw a dart on a map and don’t look back. Go to the lake, a beach or take a cross country trip. If you really don’t want to take the trip with friends, go by yourself, find out exactly who you are and have fun doing it.

Have a bonfire. Or as many as you can fit into the summer. Family, friends, neighbors: invite everyone and make it a memorable experience.

Go to that concert you have always wanted to go to. Or just go to a random concert; who knows, maybe that band or person will become your new favorite music.

Be a tourist in your own city. This sounds weird, but it is so much fun. Find all of the touristy things you can and take a day to do them.

Go for a hike. Find someplace you have never been before and explore.

Stay in and have a movie day. Have a marathon of Disney movies, or watch every Harry Potter movie.

Do something you have never done before. Challenge yourself to do this and your life may change.

Meet up with old friends from your hometown.

Take a camping trip to your backyard.

Go to an amusement park.

Go to a waterpark.

Go white water rafting with friends.

Read your favorite book again. Or read a book you haven’t got around to yet.

Go to the local fair.

Pull an all nighter with friends. Watch movies and play board games throughout the night.
