There is a lot to look forward to in March and April. The Blackburn Bookstore is doing two giveaways in March and two giveaways in April. The month of March is the time of the annual NCAA college basketball tournament, otherwise known as March Madness. To get Blackburn’s students excited and pumped about the big games and St. Patrick’s Day, the Bookstore is encouraging students to take part in a March Madness event with an opportunity to win prizes. Here is everything you need to know for a chance to win a prize.
Senior psychology major Mia Edwards and freshman business major Justice Burse, who both work in the Blackburn Bookstore, came up with the idea for the March and April events. Since St. Patrick’s Day is in March, the Bookstore is giving students 15 percent of any green Blackburn apparel or supplies. Also, students have the opportunity to buy body armor, anything green, and a nerf hoop, a mini basketball hoop that is you can hang on your door, until March 21. People who purchase something get a bracket to fill out for NCAA games. Students have to guess which teams are going to win throughout march madness and what team is going to be in the final. Whoever has the closest bracket wins a basketball hoop display. Students have until the 21st to be entered into the contest. The tournament is over on April 8, and winners will be announced on April 9.
The Bookstore also has some deals headed your way in March. Blackburn’s Peep Show starts April 1, and the bookstore is looking for participants after spring break to participate with the peep show. The peep show is where departments and clubs have to pick a theme and create their own theme using Marshmallow peeps. The prize for the peep show champion is a trophy, which is passed on every year to the new winner, and a random candy selection. In April, there is also a Easter egg hunt. From April 15-19 anyone who spends $20 can participate in the egg hunt. Students get one egg per purchase of anything in the bookstore. Each egg will have a number in it and that number will have a certain prize. The prizes for this event include Blackburn apparel and candy.
