Guess That Professor 8

by Athena Mata

You may know your professor’s name, but do you truly know about their life? If you think you do, then take a shot at this edition of Guess That Professor!

This professor teaches in the philosophy and religion department. They truly care for their students and want to help them succeed in their future. They attended college at the University of Colorado, Duke University and the University of Notre Dame. This professor has been teaching for 14 years, and five of those years have been at Blackburn. Their favorite thing about Blackburn is “the awesome, gritty students.”

They were born in Austin, Texas but grew up in Denver, Colo., and their favorite sports team is the Detroit Red Wings. They prefer to read books over watching movies, and they don’t have any pets. Their favorite holidays are Easter and Pentecost.

Their favorite excuse for missing homework is “Oh, you mean you didn’t get that yet? Well my computer is kind of messed up, but I’m pretty sure I sent it.” This professor’s favorite quotes are “Now every creature may be compared to God, as the air is to the sun which enlightens it,” from Thomas Aquinas, and “To quench thirst it is necessary to drink. Reading books about it only makes it worse,” from Jean-Pierre de Caussade.

If you believe you know who this professor is, you can email us at theburnian@blackburn.edu where we will give a shout-out for the first three correct answers in the next issue of The ‘Burnian.

The professor who was covered in the last edition of the Guess That Professor was Dr. David Reid from the biology department.
