Campus Halloween Events

by Ashley Thompson

Even though Halloween is not an officially recognized holiday, it is still a day that is full of fun. This is the one day where you can unleash your inner child and dress up like your favorite superhero, and yes, even college students still like to partake in the events around Halloween.

Even though Halloween is only one calendar day, the whole month of October is filled with Halloween-themed events and activities thanks to CAB, Blackburn College’s student activity board.

Oct. 27: Sweets-themed bingo in DCC
Oct. 28: Pumpkin carving and painting event hosted by CAB and Sustainability Club

Even if you do not want to attend the CAB events, there are plenty of things you can do to get in the Halloween spirit. At 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 28, Carlinville will have its parade on the Carlinville Plaza. The parade will be filled with floats, community groups and marching bands from the area. You can also have some Halloween spirit by trying some DIY projects:

  1. Decorate your dorm room with spiders, witches and ghouls, oh my!
  2. Don’t want a pumpkin in your room? Take an empty water jug and draw a face on it with a marker. Cut a hole in the back and get a battery-operated tea light to make your own jack-o’-lantern.
  3. Make your own Halloween costume.
