The Upside Down Invades Hawkins Once Again

The outcasts are back in the second season of the Netflix original series “Stranger Things.” This is the continuation of the story that captured the Netflix world by storm in 2016. Follow Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Will (Noah Schnapp) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) as they brave the world of the Upside Down—the evil parallel universe that kidnapped Will in season one—yet again to save the small town of Hawkins, Indiana.

The second season consists of a total of nine episodes, that are filled with new storylines, characters and stranger things.

This series is an anthem for the outcasts as the Duffer Brothers, the creators of the story, put it. The AV nerds become the heroes of the story, and the popular kids must unite with them to help save their town from some mysterious evil force lurking in the Upside Down.

The second season opens up around the anniversary of Will’s disappearance from season one. Since then, Will has lived an almost normal life, except for the fact that he can now see into the Upside Down. It is during the first few episodes that we see the continuation of the storyline through Will’s memories and visions, giving the ominous sense that the Upside Down has something bad in store for this small town.

The Duffer Brothers, along with director Shawn Levy, brought this 1980s-based series to life on screen. The series divulges into the world of different genres from jumping from mystery to drama to horror. “Chapter One: MADMAX” dives into the genre of mystery, beginning the second season with the questions: “What is actually going on with Will?” “Where is Eleven” and “What is up with the rotting pumpkin farms around town?” The series continues with “Chapter Six: The Spy” and “Chapter Seven: The Lost Sister” bringing in drama with an unlikely friendship between Dustin and Steve (Joe Keery) then diving right into Eleven’s story and a secret that has been kept from her. “Chapter Eight: The Mind Flayer” jumps back into the horror genre that “Stranger Things” was known for in season one. It is here that threats from the Upside Down, the Mind Flayer and the demogorgons, start to emerge into the real world of Hawkins and the group of outcasts and misfits must band together to save their town before the Mind Flayer destroys them all.
