There are many different ways to help the Carlinville community around the holiday season, but there is one has been going on for a long time. As soon as you walk into Walmart, you are greeted by a large decorated Christmas tree. If you were to satisfy your curiosity and look closer at the tree, you would find paper angels with a list of things on them. This is what is known as the Angel Tree project.
Though the tree itself is in Walmart, the actual promoters are organizations all around Carlinville. Carlinville Estates is one of the businesses that participates in the Angel Tree project; in fact, it was one of the only businesses to participate this year.
Customers can take an angel off of the tree, which is actually an individual from Carlinville Estates Christmas wish list, and buy some or all of the items off of the list. They then take the gifts back to Walmart, to the customer service desk, or take them straight to Carlinville Estates.
Community members can help an individual who is struggling have a better Christmas by giving from their hearts for the holidays. Some of the people in Carlinville Estates do not get many visitors or presents during the holidays, so even a little bit goes a long way. Help warm someone’s heart this Christmas by giving to the community. Carlinville Estates asks that community members return the gifts and lists to them by December 23rd so that the presents have time to be delivered.
Most of the gifts are inexpensive and easy to find. For example, one person asked for grippy socks and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, while another asked for beaded necklaces and jewelry. There were not many left on the tree when I went to look at it, so many of the angels have already been taken.
