Work Committee Minutes: Tuesday October 9, 2018

General managers Logan Elliot and Christina Newton called the meeting to order at 6am in Jeanke conference room.The meeting began with code 3 and a reminder that there would be work committee on the following Thursday instead of Tuesday due to Fall break. Next on the agenda was a reminder about the Co-Op Fair which is this Wednesday October 10 in DCC. Following was an announcement about Study abroad night on the following Thursday October 18 at 7 PM in Lumpkin. It was recommended that managers spread the word. Next was an update on subcommittees and an announcement about Fall break. Work over Fall break is allowed as long as the office/work site is open. Finishing Code 3 was announcement for a need of 2 volunteers needed for Tour de Milk on October 13, from 11-2. Following commenced Code 2 and a reminder of Manager information night in the ADR’s on Wednesday October 24 at 6pm in the ADR’s and a reminder of allocations on Saturday, November 3 at 8am in the ADR’s. Finally, there was one more announcement about the following week being only an 8 hour work week. . The meeting ended with code 1, which is the confidential potion of the meeting.

Work Committee Minutes: Tuesday September 25, 2018

General managers Logan Elliot and Christina Newton called the meeting to order at 6am in Jeanke conference room.The meeting began with code 3 and a light discussion on how the managers are doing so far. Following was a discussion on how the volunteer opportunities went. After that a reminder about the Co-Op Job fair on October 10 was given. Next, sub-committee updates were given. Following, code 2 was started. Elliot and Newton touched on the upcoming Snackbar manager/ manager information night. Next the date for allocations was announced for November 3. Finishing, 3 reminders were given. The first one was that the next pay period ends Thursday, October 19 at 5pm and that students needed 84 hours. Next, A reminder on the job fair Wednesday Ocotber 10 in DCC. The last reminder was that there would not be work committee on Tuesday, October 18. The meeting ended with code 1, which is the confidential potion of the meeting.

 


 

Work Committee Minutes: September 18, 2018

General managers Logan Elliot and Christina Newton called the meeting to order at 6am in Jeanke conference room. The meeting commenced with an open discussion on any problems managers had to discuss with the group. Next, Take it to town, a volunteer opportunity for this Saturday was discussed and it was reminded that if anyone in the work committee was interested to let Angie Morenz know before Saturday. Next, the Co-Op Job fair was announced for October 10. It was explained that the Co-op job fair was for Juniors and Seniors to get the opportunity to work for local businesses and have it count for tuition hours. Next, an announcement was made from the honor worker sub committee update to make sure everyone was filling out a slip. Following code 2 started with a discussion on undertime contracts. Newton reminded the committee that every undertime contract needed to be copied 3 times and an expiration date needed to be on them. Following, Elliot announced that if any worker needed access to anything the request needed to come from the manager of the department or the supervisor and not the worker. Next was a reminder that time sheets for the international students needed to be completed often on both paper and on the shared excel sheet. Following and concluding Code 2 was a reminder to throw food away in a different trashcan than in the work office. Afterwards there were 4 reminders. The first one was that the pay period ends today and that every student needed 40 hours. The second was that Time cards were due Thursday September 20 at 5pm and that the managers needed to remind the supervisors. The third one was another reminder on Take it to town happening September 22. The fourth and final one was a reminder of the next work committee Tuesday, September 27th. The meeting ended with code 1, which is the confidential potion of the meeting.

 


 

Work Committee Minutes: Tuesday September 11, 2018

General managers Logan Elliot and Christina Newton called the meeting to order at 6am in Jeanke conference room. Commenced with an open discussion on any issues the managers have encountered. Following Elliot asked for one member to represent work committee at student senate. Allie Dollen volunteered to represent Work Committee. Following, Newton discussed two volunteer opportunities. Take it to Town and Lion’s Carnival. Take it to town is to happen, September 22 and the Lion’s Carnival is September 15, 16, and 17. Following commenced Code 2. Newton discussed undertime contracts and reminded managers that anyone 10 or more hours down on hours are required to receive an undertime contract. Next, written warnings and the appeals process were discussed. It was reminded that written warnings needed to have a student signature. There was also a reminder that appeals needed to go directly to managers unless they required further request. After that, Elliot lead the discussion on sub committee updates, most had not met. However academics had met and discussed that work attendance policies in different departments and sub departments were not universal. Next a reminder was said to make sure that job advertisements were posted outside of the work office on the bulletin board. In conclusion of code 2, it was reminded that an hours update was sent out as of 9/9/18. The meeting ended with code 1, which is the confidential potion of the meeting.

 


 

Work Committee Minutes: Tuesday September 4, 2018

General Managers Christina Newton and Logan Elliot called the meeting to order at 6am in Jeanke conference room. The meeting began with code 3 and an open discussion lead by Elliot of any issues managers had come across up to that point. Following Amber Rodriguez was introduced as a guest and she presented her issue. Rodriguez mentioned that she found it problematic that the B-book stated on page 113 under the Work Committee Visitor Policy that students can only attend Work Committee 4 times per academic school year. Following this, was an open discussion on the matter with Rodriguez. In conclusion, the work committee acknowledged Rodriguez’s concern and thanked her for bringing the concern to their attention. After that, Newton mentioned two volunteer opportunities that were presented to work committee, Lion’s Carnival and Take it to town. It was proposed that those interested in helping out with the Lion’s Carnival should contact Barbara Clark and those interested in Take it to town would have more information to come but that the date would be on September 22, 2018. After that, Newton reminded the committee that department budgets were due today and reminded them to send an email if they had questions. Following commenced Code 2, with a lead discussion on professionalism in the workplace. Managers were reminded to be professional on and off of the clock, and Angie Morenz closed off the discussion. Next, lead by Elliot, was a reminder to be communicating efficiently and effectively with supervisors, students, and leadership. After that, a reminder from Newton that the managers needed to respond with the reply all button to all emails sent out by the general managers. Newton followed by reminding work committee that time needed to be approved by Wednesday September 5, at 5pm. She then went over the end of the period process and what that looked like for managers. Code 2 was concluded with a reminder to stay up to date with the time and with the workers in their department to make sure they did not get under time. The meeting ended with code 1, which is the confidential potion of the meeting.

 


 

Work Committee Minutes: Tuesday August 28, 2018

General managers Logan Elliot and Christina Newton called the meeting to order at 6am in Jeanke conference room. Started with code 3, discussed their week, and any problems they’ve had as new managers. Next, announcements about paid contracts, timecard mistakes, and discussion over the T-drive. Following, Newton and Elliot discussed written warnings and when they should be given out. Finishing code 3, announcements over work program agreements needing turned in, the usage of undertime contracts, and clock rules were made. Code 2 started next with the only discussion being department budgets which are due Tuesday September 11 for managers. The meeting ended with code 1, which is the confidential potion of the meeting.
