  • McDonald’s: 10% discount
    • McDonald’s is everyone’s favorite Happy Meal destination, and college students can get an extra 10% discount off their total. They are open Monday-Thursday from 5:30 a.m.-11:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5:30 a.m.-12:00 a.m. and Sunday from 6:00 a.m.-11 p.m.
  • Dairy Queen: 10% discount
    • Known for their fantastic Blizzards, students can get a 10% discount on their total purchase. They are open every day from 10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
  • Subway: 10% Discount
    • When students want to “eat fresh,” Subway gives students a 10% discount on their total meal. They are open Monday-Thursday 7:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m., Friday from 7:00 a.m.-2:30 a.m., Saturday from 8:00 a.m.-2:30 a.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m.
  • Plaza Cafe: 10% discount
    • Home to the best breakfast food around, the Plaza Cafe is a great restaurant for families. They also offer a 10% discount for Blackburn students who show them their Blackburn ID cards. They are open Monday and Tuesday from 6:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Wednesday-Saturday from 6:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 6:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
  • Sol de Mexico: 10% discount
    • For those who love Mexican food, Sol de Mexico gives students a 10% discount. They are open Sunday-Thursday from 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
  • Panda: 10% discount
    • For all those who love Chinese food, Panda gives students 10% off their total. They are open Sunday-Friday from 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. and closed Saturday.
  • Little Italy’s: many different specials on pizzas
    • Little Italy’s has many different specials for Blackburn students such as a medium one topping pizza for $7.50, a 12 inch calzone for $5.00 and many others. They also offer free delivery.. They are open Sunday-Thursday from 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
  • Renos: large one topping pizza for $10
    • Reno’s Pizza has a special pizza for Blackburn students which is a large, one topping pizza for only $10. They are open Tuesday-Thursday from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., Friday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., and Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
  • Wood Duck Bar and Grill: Thursday night student specials
    • Known for their fantastic horseshoes, Wood Duck Bar and Grill is a family burger restaurant with a bar and separate dining room. On Thursday nights, they have special deals for Blackburn students. They are open Monday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m., and are closed Sunday.
  • Uptown Tavern: College nights Wednesday after 10
    • Uptown Tavern is a bar and grill restaurant. For college students, there are college nights on Wednesdays after 10. They are open Monday and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 11:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m. and Sunday 4:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
  • Tropical Snow and Dole Whip: 20% discount
    • During the warmer days, snow cones and dole whips are the way to go. They offer a 20% discount to Blackburn students and they have a system of punch cards that add up to a free tropical snow cone or dole whip of your choice. They are open every day from 2:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
  • There are also many small stores around Carlinville that are very welcoming to students. Though they currently don’t give out any discounts, some stores such as My Sister’s Closet and Main Street Florist (both located on the Carlinville Square) want to start giving discounts to students in the future.

Online Discounts

  • Amazon Prime: 50% discount on Amazon Prime membership
    • One of the steepest discounts on this list, having an Amazon Prime Student membership gets students discounts on textbooks, free release date delivery on video games and all the perks of a normal Prime membership free two day shipping and Amazon Prime video. If you’re still on the fence about Prime Student usefulness, you can sign up for a free six month trial; the only caveat is that you can’t stream Amazon music or use the Kindle lending library.
  • The New York Times: Three options starting at $30 per year
    • This offer allows students a way to get their news from one of the most trusted sources in the world. With three subscription options two offering full access to their online articles while the third and priciest option gives the above perks and print editions of The New York Times at a price affordable to even the poorest student.
  • Microsoft: 10% off Windows devices and programs
    • Students looking for a new tablet can get deep discounts on the Microsoft Surface and Office 365 for free; just put in your Blackburn email when prompted and students can save on these wonderfully useful products.
  • Spotify: 50% off of the yearly membership
    • For the audiophiles on campus and off, Spotify offers this great deal. Premium allows the user of the app to pick what song they listen to on their mobile device.
  • Apple Music: 4.99 a month
    • For the audiophile who prefers Apple’s platform over Spotify and Amazon Prime music. Students can get many of the services that other music streaming sites offer but offers the first three months for free for first time subscribers to the service; for $60 dollars students can get 15 months of music for a price that’s easy on the wallet.
