Basketball Games Vs. Greenville

On Saturday January 26th, the women’s and men’s basketball teams faced off the Greenville Panthers. Both Blackburn teams were hoping to defend their house by winning both games against the Panthers, but they were not successful. The women’s team lost the game with the final score of 53-69. The first quarter ended with 17-16 after Lexie Black made a jump shot. The second quarter started strong, as the Beavers were able to quickly catch up to the Panthers. However, they quickly fell behind with the first half ending 24-33, giving Greenville almost a 10 point lead. The lady beavers were unable to bounce back in the second half with scores of 39-48 and 53-69 in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. The Lady Beavers put up a good fight, but fell against the Lady Panthers. Savannah Kruse led the team with 17 points. Jenna Dudra leading in steals with seven.

The men’s team was also unsuccessful in declaring a victory against the Panthers. The Beavers put up a good fight in both halves. In the first half, the Beavers ended up tying with the Panthers with both teams scoring 61 points. The first half was lead by Raushaun Amos, who scored 14 points, and closely followed by Duncan King, who scored 13 points. The second half started off with the same amount of energy, and Blackburn was able to stay relatively close with points, but they ended up falling behind towards the end of the game. Blackburn lost the match and ended the game with a score of 115-128. Karson Hayes led the Beavers in the second half, scoring 22 points. Amos had the most 3-point shots made, which totaled five shots.
