“S.O.S.” The Jonas Brothers are Back in Business!

by Athena Mata

The Jonas Brothers have recently announced that they are back together and ready to produce new music. The three brothers, Nick, Joe and Kevin, split the band up in 2013, but over five years later they have decided to give the group another shot. There will be some changes to the band and the most obvious one so far is the name of the band will change from The Jonas Brothers to simply JONAS. For some, this announcement does not come as a shock because there have been rumors of the Jonas Brothers getting back together since early 2018 when their Instagram account was reactivated.

This new name is welcomed by myself along with many 20-somethings who grew up watching Disney Channel and those who still rock out to some of their classics such as “Burnin’ Up” and “Year 3000”. The group split up in 2013 due to family reasons, and Kevin said, “We’re choosing our family because it was becoming toxic” at the time of the group disbanding. Nick began working on his own, Joe became a part of the band DNCE and Kevin went a separate route and chose to raise his two daughters and be with his wife.

The reunion is fantastic and will feel nostalgic while still being new, but will it be the same as before? Do we want it to be the same as before? Since the three brothers went their separate ways, they all have different styles of music, so the band could go back to being a rock band, or they could take on more of a pop style. Maybe they will even create their own style and bring each of their styles together; it’s a mystery and we will not know until they start producing music again.

Many other students, such as Courtney Phelps, a sophomore graphic design major, are excited to see the Jonas Brothers back in action once again. Phelps stated, “I think that them getting back together will be nostalgic, but I would like to see them keep their old style of pop punk.” I will admit, I am very excited to see what the Jonas brothers produce, and I will welcome the idea of a new style as long as they are able to pull it off.
