Back to the Hundred Acre Wood

by Bailee McCarthy

Winnie the Pooh was part of almost everybody’s childhood.  Who doesn’t love a cute, loveable bear that eats honey and is best friends with a cute pig?  Well, Walt Disney Studios gave the life of young Christopher Robin some revamping, so to speak.  I really enjoyed the film, and I couldn’t be more happy.

In the movie Christopher Robin, directed by Marc Forster, young Christopher Robin (Ewan Mcgregor) is all grown-up with a family of his own.  As a working man, he had to grow up and move on from the Hundred Acre Wood, leaving behind his best friend. When his job takes a turn, Christopher must stay behind in London when his wife and daughter plan to go on a weekend country trip.  Little does Christopher know that his old best friend is in town. Christopher knows that London is no place for a little Pooh Bear, so he takes Pooh back to the Wood. In an unexpected turn of events, Pooh lures Christopher into help find the rest of the gang: Kanga, Roo, Eeyore, Owl and Tigger.  Eventually, Christopher finds his way back to London to get back to the job that was keeping him from his family — only he unknowingly lost his paperwork. When the group finds it, they take on the challenge of returning to Christopher in London to help out their lifelong best friend. Afterwords, Christopher’s daughter, Madeline, finds Pooh and her dad’s important paperwork. So with new friends taking on yet another adventure in London, Madeline, Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore all try to beat the clock to Christopher’s important meeting to save his career.

As a lover of Winnie the Pooh, this movie was a little bit of a tear jerker.  This film, to me, was more of a continuation of Christopher Robin’s life, and I loved every moment of this movie.  I would watch it again, hands down. I really liked that the movie showed Christopher with a family, living his life without his friends, but also being happy with his daughter and wife.  In a way, it showed the viewers that because Christopher Robin was able to grow-up and have a family of his own, who is to say that anybody who watched him as a child is able to do the same?  I would recommend this movie to anyone who once loved the adorable Pooh Bear just wanting honey and to be with his best friend.
